sweet as sugar
hot as fire
spices mixed just right
tempting and tantalizing
smokey sweet aromas
bitter sensations
a candy store of emotions
a penny a treat
worth the cavities
the abscess and extraction
that is until the bitter taste
of disappointment
sours the delight.
now it’s soup, pudding and mash potatoes
while my teeth sit in a cup

I hope you had a good holiday also. I base most of my poems on life. Sometimes there aren’t any hidden agenda’s.

That pretty much sums up life really, for most of us anyway. Brilliant use of an extended metaphor and such well placed and exact word usage, ‘sweet and sour’ in equal measure; clever stuff and very enjoyable to read, as usual.
