Shhhhhh! I Wan’na Hear

Shhhhhh!
I wan’na hear,
the cries of the seagulls,
and the calm of the ocean,
as waves brush the shore.
.
Instead.
POP! POP! POP!
Is what I hear.

Shhhhhh!
I wan’na hear,
the trickles of rain,
the crackling thunder,
and the sizzle of lightning.
Instead,
a mother screaming,
is what I hear.

Shhhhhh!
I wan’na hear,
bees buzzing,
and fluttering wings of butterflies,
as they glide from dandelion to dandelion.
Instead,
brothers and sisters weeping,
is what I hear.

Shhhhhh!
I wan’na hear,
whispers of snowflakes,
as they sail from the heavens,
and drift along the earth.
Instead,
the closing of caskets,
is what I hear.

Shhhhh!
I wan’na hear,
babies snore,
gurgle and crawl,
and play with laughter.
Instead,
shovels tossing dirt,
is what I hear

Shhhhhh!
I wan’na hear,
Humanity,
with love and peace,
that embraces unity.
Instead,
the beast growling,
as he devours,
mankind,
is what I hear.
