Touching the Sky

I stretch my wings

soaring higher than the sea

way up high above the clouds

into the essence of light

I dive,

I spin

I glide free

above the pinnacle of earth

the wind and I alone

unbounded jubilation

sedated.

A blink

a moment

my wings,

my wings are clipped

hush I hear

the voice of envy

and see

the vision of greed

and feel

the hand of death

my soul

captured and caged.

A ballad of sorrow I sing

blank eyes see darkness

where once light shone.

floating on memories

I spread my wings

I am free

free as the wind.
