sparkling like karats of twenty-four

across the edge of the earth’s core

an illusion of the sky burning with fire

on a canvas in shades of lapis and sapphire

cotton candy in winter white

swept in ribbons before the night

are gentle hues

in an array of blues

as natures perfect fusion

that the black birds find amusing

as they dance in the setting day

then playfully circle and fly away

the moon starts rising from below

her mesmerizing light is aglow

into a deep trans, hypnotizing it seems

conjuring vivid and tranquil dreams

wishing on twinkling tail of dust

in the morn the naked trees will fuss

as powder sugar covers their vanity

at the birth of winter’s insanity

I started this poem last night before I went to sleep.  It was going in another direction it changed course when I woke to find snow flurrying about.

  1. Lovely poem! Quite engaging and interesting. Seasons come and go, each with it’s own unique feel and features.
You’ve got a lovely mind that observes and appreciates, that’s definitely part of why you are exceptionally creative. Keep up the good work!
