how do you love me
with a heart that’s hard
filled with darkness
and stipulations
how do you love me
with a heart that’s hurting
rooted in deep anger
and conditional
how do you love me
with a heart that’s selfish
bleeding from wounded pain
and loneliness
how do you love me
with a heart that’s unforgiving
predicting future collapses
and destruction
how do you love me
with a heart that’s empty
weeping to feel compassion
and self-worth
how do you love me
with a heart that’s void
longing to know
and feel

Your photo and writing are reflective of each other. Well done.
Wow! Very deep and speaks much volume. Until we learn to love ourselves we can’t begin to love another.
So true.
“how do you love me”
I guess I must have seen it in a mirror.
Oh My!
Yes – How is that even love?
Another great expression so full of emotion.
I’m on a roll I guess. 🙂 Thanks for your visit you know I love your visits.
Yes, we have to first really love ourselves as Ametia said. So exposing. Thank you Kim.
True true and sometimes it take hard work.
That’s no heart at all, Kim. Great poem here.
Thanks Mark
Ah, and here you have what is often the issue. Well done for both sentiment and structure. I like it.
Thank you Jamie
Sometimes the mirage is facilitated by deception.
True. We see what we want to see. The poem I’m currently working on is based on perspective.
I love the title it is absolutely perfect and the repetition of that heart-breaking question excellent job
Thank you much.
“Mirage” is sublime. We can’t truly love anyone, until we learn to truly love ourselves.
Thanks SHO!
True and an understanding I am finally learning. Thanks for visiting Ametia.
