Who Knew You?

the world knows you
the you,
you’re learning to know
pieces unveiled in
your abstract prose

∞∞

he see a glimmer
a shining light
comfort
she sees shadows haunting
lurking in darkness
trembling

∞∞

he hears flutes
serenading
while the congas
gather souls
to march with the evil spirits
she hears

∞∞

the world knows you
the one
you’re learning to know
revealing truths protected
the womb becomes
the crashing wave of labor
birth
emerging
from the burnt ashes
of the dying

∞∞

to awaken in dreams
the ones
voided of reality
the ones unveiled in
your abstract
poetry

∞∞

you hear the knocking
she hears the ringing
you hear laughter
and she hears tears
whimpers of the labor
deafening screams
when the birth emerges

∞∞

she learns the world
that knows her
that fed her love through pain
gave her the laughter
that was born through tears
courage despite her fear

∞∞

the world knew you
before you thought
you knew the you
the world already knew
